Karaetius’s Answers & Jingle Jangle

Karaetius the Watcher’s riddle answers:

• Q1: How to release Sir Talavar?
  • “The Cage’s Key lies in goblin hands, in Telemy Hell where she stands.”
• Q2: How to free Zybilna / Prismeer?
  • “With Prismeer split along its lines, I cannot read its distant signs.”
• Q3: Where is the Alicorn Horn that can free Zybilna?
  • “On top of a plant touching the sky, in familiar hands the horn resides. The realm disturbed must be made right, a unicorn’s will [shall yield].”
  • The mists are a physical manifestation of the split between the hag sisters and can be resolved.

Chris’s notes: Sisters split the realm. Moose Noodle cannot see through the mist, but can see / did see the alicorn horn. Something else needs to happen to free Zybilna — kill hags? Disperse mists? Dan’s note: Since [Karaetius] knows about the alicorn horn, it’s not sufficient that he says he cannot see the signs to free her.

• Q4 (replacing a question, traded Pixie Dust for): How do we defeat Bavlorna?
  • “Running circles may sound fun, but leaves hags sneezing when they’re done.”
• Q (extra, traded Pixie Dust): How do we get Dawn’s recipe back?
  • “In Witch’s trove lost things reside — find frog’s mouth and reach inside.”
• Q (extra): How do we leave Hither?
  • “A straw-filled man in Downfall’s midst can lead you Thither through the mist. The Coward will not stand and fight — if this his long scarf should be held tight.”
• Rool thanked Karaetius in rhyme as they left.

• Left toward Telemy Hill. Found huge footprints filled with water.
• Chris had a memory: Telemy Hill is mobile — those are the hill’s footprints. Telemy Hill was large enough to follow easily.
• Greeted with the scent of sweet fruit. The trees lightly sway as the hill walks.
• Heard a voice greet them: “Hello friends.” Didn’t see anyone.
• Realized the trees were talking to them — the trees speak for the hill.
• The trees told them that Jingle Jangle the goblin can help — she collects keys. The voice passed from tree to tree as they walked.
• Jingle Jangle had not left her den for the better part of three days. The harengon have been coming into her home and absconding with her keys.
• The cave entrance is carved like a keyhole. Scent of iron in the air. A candle sputtering and keys everywhere.
• Jingle Jangle: “I’m going to start fucking people up with a flail of eldritch padlocks.”
• Jingle Jangle is scared of locks — she was not treated nicely and was left in a cage by Bavlorna. Bavlorna “tried to help” — using her powers to grant wishes, she helped Jingle Jangle be less afraid of locks by giving her keys. She had the key [to Sir Talavar’s cage] until the harengon stole it.
• If willing to stay and ambush the harengon, cook dinner.
• She asks for help with truffle hunting. Along the way, the trees ask if they could have Jingle Jangle let the hill know before she digs again.
• Suggested the hill could find companions to speak for it indoors. Jingle Jangle explained she hadn’t been digging — it may have been the harengon.
• Chris gave the Everchanging Key trinket in exchange for knowledge about the flail [of eldritch padlocks].
• Set up several extra blankets for the night.
• In the night, rabbit ears came up through a hole and changed into a spider. Cast Spike Growth — it exploded from the spikes, turned into a burst of worms, spiders, etc. Jingle Jangle did not wake from the noise.
• Called it for the night there.
