Rool — Session 16 (February 9, 2023)
Yarspinner’s Library & Nobody Revealed
Returned after an absence. Recap: did not trust “Nobody,” but were willing to explore as “rude guests without necessarily getting into shit.”
- Yarspinner’s library contains fey-realm parody titles, including:
- Self-Help for Wizards
- Adventure: Star-Crossed Lovers / Frankenstein’s Brain
- Dewey the Bear (the Bear)
- Goldilocks Calls the Bear
- Where the Feywild Things Are
- The Boy Who Sped Through the Thorns (he whistled the whetstone and ran backwards)
- Classics section: Carlotta’s Web
- Lord of the Faerie Rings
- Yarspinner probably went through the secret door in the Classics section.
- Task in Classics: find an unlit midnight candle where the campestri’s signature is.
- Went through the secret passage. Found:
- A book that talked about Myster [Bird?]
- A book about Dawn and the cupcake contest
- A book about Rool and the snail that saved him
- Saw Nobody pick up a book. Nobody destroyed the Tale of Strongheart.
- After reading the books they regained their memories.
- Chased after Nobody — he turned into a racing snail to escape.
- Yarspinner caught them. They fought Nobody / Yarspinner. Myster threatened to destroy the books.
- Yarspinner agreed to let them go if they gave him a tale he didn’t already know.
- Chris told Yarspinner the story of how he [Chris] got created. (31-letter performance from Chris.) Yarspinner mulled it over, accepted it — and the mist dispersed.
- Cast Hold Person on Nobody — revealed to be Zardu, a half-orc assassin from the Strongheart tale [the League of Malevolence agent]. They bashed his brains in.
- The real Yarspinner came back and apologised. Gave the party Slippers of Spiderclimb. Explained that his domain had merged with Prismeer and he is working on getting unmerged to free from the corruption.
- Levelled up.
Item received — Midnight Candle (Wondrous Item, common): While holding this candle you can cause a harmless flame to appear on its wick, shedding bright light in a 5-foot radius and dim light for an additional 5 feet. When you cause the flame to appear, you may designate up to ten creatures who are able to see the light from it.
