Townspeople discussed how “Tamwyn would have had mending” for the temple.
Verified our gear: we already have cold weather gear, and purchased crampons (spent 2 gp).
Still more work to do: there is a case at Caer-Konig, which is the closest thing to a vacation we can afford.
Walked to Caer-Konig, taking 12.5 hours.
Learned the history of Caer-Konig, nestled on the white snowy slopes of Kelvin’s Cairn:
A stone palisade was added later to discourage raiders.
The town fell to orcs before falling into ruin.
Today, it consists of terraced rows of houses by the lake.
Above all are the ruins of the cairn that gave the town its name.
A ferry used to run here, but now that the ferry is shut down, it is an isolated town.
The locals are bitter and angry, believing the rest of the Ten-Towns abandoned them.
The only thing keeping them happy is the beer at the tavern that never seems to run out.
Visited the renowned tavern, “Hook, Line, and Sinker.”
Knocked on the door of the Speaker’s house. A tired old man dressed in a servant’s outfit answered and asked if we had an appointment. He mentioned the Speaker must be at the tavern amongst his constituents.
Outside the tavern, we met Trovis, a drunk dragonborn holding a bottle as a weapon. It turned out Trovis is the Speaker.
Entered the “Hook, Line, and Sinker,” where we were given a free half-pint of dwarven ale upon entering.
Drank some of the ale; rolled a DC 7 Constitution save against the poisoned condition.
Participated in “Sinker,” the drinking contest at the end of the night.
At the end of the night, the Speaker wanted to go on a patrol instead of going home, talking about a time he fought a half-ogre.
Discovered someone stole the town’s magical lantern and many other miscellaneous items.
Visited another tavern where the locals knew Trovis and talked about his “patrols.”
Made our way up to the Cairn.
Underwent crossbow fire from duergar. Fought them as they tried to close the drawbridge. They brought out an ogre zombie pet, but we fought on the bridge and managed to beat them despite the alarm sounding.
Went further inside the outpost. Found a room with cages (one formerly holding the zombie) and two goats inside a cage.
Navigated further ahead to a room with two doorways and a lever beyond. Triggered a trap of spikes that impaled Winnie and Skorn.
Skorn destroyed the spikes afterward.
The lever beyond caused the spikes to retract.
Skorn destroyed the door.
Initiated combat beyond the door and stopped for the night.
Discussed possible team names, including “The Tam Winners?”
