Savin
A young half-orc hunter who belongs to two peoples. His father was Elk tribe, one of the Reghedsmen, who came to live with the Coldpeak and married Broken Tusk’s sister. His mother died shortly after he was born, and his father is gone too. He has grown up between two tribes that each have a claim on him, and neither has known what to do with that.
Broken Tusk is his aunt, his mother’s sister. The understanding between the Coldpeak and the Elk has been kept across many seasons, and it was personal before it was political. Broken Tusk has been quietly grooming him for tribal leadership. He doesn’t want it.
He found Pasha in the blizzard after she was separated from the party, escorted them all to the Coldpeak camp, and vouched for the outsiders to Broken Tusk. In Session 4 he took the party to Durok’s spring and the Netherese ruins.
He’s at Coldpeak now, and he works with Durok. In Session 14 he came into camp from the direction of Durok’s enclosure with an armful of cold-hardy vegetables and set them down at Brekk’s worktable. The scar Berg had found on his wrist in Session 4 was gone. Nobody asked about it.
River has promised to watch over him. The promise first came to River secondhand, from Atezca, who had made it to Ragnhild, and River claimed it as his own: “I told her I would.” Ragnhild thanked him for it in Session 20. The column is bringing the Elk to Coldpeak, where Savin is.
Before the Reweave — In the unwoven, Savin had a scar on his right wrist that he deflected questions about. He had gone near the mountain the tribe refuses to name, closer than any hunter should, and felt nothing of what the others describe. After the Elk returned in Session 6, he left Coldpeak to hunt with his father’s people. The Reweave rewrote this. Memories of it surface as half-rumor, not error.
