The Great Hall

The Great Hall
Association
Coldpeak tribe

The heart of Coldpeak camp: a wide cavern at the back of the hollow, where the mountain stops being a wall and becomes a roof. The tribe gathers here to eat, argue, and wait out the worst weather. A fire burns at its center and has not been allowed to go out. Council is held at that fire, and so are most meals.

It is the warmest place in the camp and, since Session 22, the strangest.

Hotter, Colder

Durok brought the party a harder message than the others that morning. The mountain hasn’t only moved. The Coldpeak are hearing the words he heard and refused, and their traditions keep turning out to have always been true when they weren’t. He feels it strongest here, deep in the earth beneath the Great Hall.

That is roughly where Father Joseph buried the mountain’s pebble in Session 16: a plain brown stone from Arveth’s herald, confirmed by Identify to be exactly and only a rock, planted where everyone had just eaten on the promise that it would keep the home safe while the party was gone. “Arveth’s reproducing.”

Alina’s plan is to walk Durok through the hall and ask him whether it’s getting warmer.
