A Village Called Hommlet (May 9, 2026)
A Village Called Hommlet, or A Village Called Hommlet
Party
Araken (Ken), Kaelisa (Brian), Oskar (Dan), Cinder (Trey)
The job was simple in the way jobs described as simple never are: someone in Hommlet had gotten hold of a letter that wasn’t meant for them, and the party was there to find out who.
The Tavern
The natural starting point was the taproom, where the natural approach was to work the crowd — buy drinks, ask questions, read the room. This worked well for most of the party. It did not work well for Oskar, who reached his limit for indirect action approximately one round into the process and stationed himself at the tavern entrance with his warhammer, personally guaranteeing that no one left until the investigation was concluded. This was not subtle. It was effective.
The questions eventually pointed to Spugnoir. The letter — planted deliberately as bait — had made its way to him. He was upstairs.
Spugnoir
The party went up. Spugnoir, to his credit, recognized immediately that the situation had gone sideways and attempted to resolve it by going out the window. The fall resolved it further. He did not survive it.
The Hideout
Below Hommlet, the cult had been operating long enough to feel comfortable. The party found them, fought them, and did not leave them comfortable. The details grow hazy past this point — there were cultists, there was a fight, and at the end of it the cult was no longer a going concern.
Elmo and the Hommlet Company took note. The party left with new friends, a story award, and a magic shield each.
