A name Ulfe carried to Coldpeak in Session 15: a giant bird, a cloud of ice and wind, that struck the Elk tribe and took Pasha. In Session 16 it took two of the three runners the Elk sent to Coldpeak out of the air, and only Ulfe got through.

In Session 17 the party saw what it does. In the fog on the open ice, talons closed around Tarn, the youngest hunter in the column, and Rime Talon climbed into the clouds with him. In Session 18 it was a large silhouette crossing the high sky over the Elk ravine. Before Tarn it had only ever taken Elk. Three people are known to be taken. Nobody knows whether they’re alive.

In Session 21 a bird came down on the column at night. It was smaller than Rime Talon, still big as hell, with nothing wintry about it, and it wore a delicate silver collar with a small charm. It took Berg and Alina, dropped Alina, and flew off.

Before the Reweave — In the unwoven there was no Rime Talon. The killer that stalked the Dale in those first weeks was Rimetalon, an owlbear that Durok had named. The Reweave rewrote that thread; if the old name surfaces in memory, it surfaces as half-rumor, not error.
